PRACTICING IMPERFECTION
a priest's journey through meditation, messing up, and ministry.
I wrote this book to talk about how a daily meditation practice drastically changed my relationship to self, to others, and to my job. The collection of short (humorous and honest) stories weaves in and out of my childhood in eastern North Carolina, my current life, and my role as a priest. If you're someone who worries a lot, or if you're interested in starting a meditation practice, give it a read.
I'm happy to speak about the book, and to offer a Conversation Guide.

ABOUT
ME
I am an artist, a priest, and a musician. I love beauty, creativity, and introducing people to the mysteries of God and the mysteries of life. This website is the holder of music that I've written, details about a book I wrote, a curriculum I've developed to practice mindfulness and study the Psalms, and whatever else I may want to share.
Mostly, I want to make the church a more creative and engaging space. If I can be helpful, please reach out.
This program for preachers explores the self and the Psalms. By putting the Psalms beside a Mindfulness Meditation practice, we will discover how these ancient texts inform our lives, and our lives inform these ancient texts. This curriculum will help preachers preach the Psalms with more imagination, and with more personal and spiritual relevance.
Meditations of our
hearts
a program for preachers
I've been writing music since 2003. Since I've been in multiple church settings, I've written for large choirs, small choirs, and soloists. My music tends to be very lyrical and simple.
I'm also building a Psalter. I write simple, singable refrains that pair with the Plainsong Psalter. The hope is to pair the modern with the ancient and create a sense of mystery.
I also have a number of "Taize-like" chants that work well for establishing stillness and mystery.
If you're looking for something and don't see it, give me a shout . . . I may have something.
